How does it work? What happens in a session?

We meet via Zoom and we have a conversation, one hour (or 30 minutes) at a time. You tell me what you're wrestling with / thinking through / what you want to focus on. I do my best to listen and be curious. You can expect questions and follow-up questions, along with the occasional suggestion or idea. You'll probably get a story or two, and there will likely be at least one pun. If you have questions for me along the way, I'm happy to be an open book. If you want feedback on something—like a business plan or piece of writing—let’s do it.

How should I prepare?

It's good to have an idea of what you want to focus on. If you want to come with notes and questions, this can be helpful. If you want to just show up and see where the conversation goes, that's okay too. I tend to be a fan of at least having the option to take notes. That way, if something stands out or feels important, you're able to remember.

How much does it cost?

The cost is $100 per one-hour session. That's the standard and you also have the option of a 30-minute session for $65. How often we meet is up to you, whether it ends up being weekly or monthly or just one time. (You don't have to decide in advance.) When you book, you will automatically receive a Zoom link. If you need to reschedule, I'm happy to be flexible. I just ask that you try to give 24 hours notice.

Are you qualified to be a coach? Do you have any credentials?

I don't have any specific coaching credentials or certification. I'm also not a licensed counselor or therapist. I have so much respect for the work they do. (I've been with my counselor for close to a decade.) If you're struggling with your mental health, I hope you'll see a licensed counselor or therapist. Psychology Today and TWLOHA are two great places to find help.

The coaching I offer is based on my unique experience, starting with 8 years in the surf industry, then 15 years with TWLOHA, then flying solo for the last 5 years. There have been some incredible opportunities and surprising open doors. I've interacted with thousands of people at events in all 50 states and countries around the world. In recent years, I've spent hundreds of hours leading small-group conversations. I've made plenty of mistakes along the way and I've learned some valuable lessons. I like the idea of taking everything that I've experienced and learned, and using it to help other people. I want to be open and I hope I can be helpful.

Also: You don't have to take my word for it. The product images include quotes from a few of my past coaching clients.
