The first edition of “All You Need Is Water” happened last November and I really loved it. That initial workshop was focused on public speaking so I was surprised to learn that some of the folks who signed up were equally interested in writing. This time around, we will definitely be talking about both. Basically, if you are interested in communication, it would be great to have you in the mix.

We’ll talk about the creative as well as the business. I’ll come prepared ready to share everything I’ve learned over the last 18+ years. And since the event is limited to 11 people, there will be plenty of time for Q&A. I’m happy to be an open book.

One important note: “All You Need is Water” is open to all levels of experience. Whether you’re already being paid to speak or write, just starting to get your feet wet as a communicator, or simply curious, you’re invited.

This is an online event. We’ll meet via Zoom, starting the evening of Friday, 5/31 at 7pm ET. The opening session gives me a chance to welcome you and set the stage, and then we’ll spend the rest of the time getting to know each other. Everyone will be invited to share a little bit about who they are and why they’re participating. Hopefully this breaks the ice and sets us up to dive into the material the following day.

Saturday (6/1) is broken into two parts—the creative and the business. We’ll begin at 2pm ET. I’ll share from my surprising journey as a communicator, offering lessons learned over the years—from early opportunities to overcoming nerves to preparation to getting comfortable with my own personal style and voice. Like I mentioned, there will be time for your questions as well.

We’ll take an afternoon break and then get going again at 6pm ET. The closing session is about the business of public speaking and writing. How do you start getting paid? Do you need an agent? Should you wait for opportunities or create your own? We’ll talk about authenticity and platform and presenting yourself as a communication—social media, self-promotion, and hopefully not selling our souls in the process.

We’ll spend eight hours together over the course of two days. After the workshop, there will be opportunities to stay connected through private follow-up events.
